MALLOW CO.CORK IRELAND

Electric and photoelectric Tecoled laboratory

At our premises in Mallow Co Cork we have a modern laboratory, where we can perform all the measurements necessary to produce LED lighting with high efficiency and reliability.

Colorimetric measurements conducted in our Stroboscopic Sphere allow the measurement of colour rendering index Ra and the presentation of its components R1 – R15.

A lamp studied in our stroboscopic sphere, after a period of stabilization of temperature, is scanned using a photo-spectrometer. As a result of this scan we obtain a measurement of the color of the light CCT chromatic coordinates X, Y in accordance with CIE1931. The graph can obtain resolution component colors in the range of 380 to 780 nm.

A digital meter measuring the harmonic components included in series with the power fixtures is placed in the stroboscopic sphere . The meter performs continuous measurement of the harmonic components records this in a file and presents it on the chart. The result is given on the screen of the meter in the form of THD V and THD I.

We also have a Multi-channel digital meter equipped with sensors called thermocouples. They allow the measurement of temperatures ranging from -50 to +500 degrees Celsius. The measurement data is then recorded in a file and a representation of the results are shown in the graphs.

The Stabilized Digital AC adapter is designed to power the test light source. With the controls positioned on the device or the software installed on our computer measurement, we can program the following parameters: Supply voltage V (AC) and frequency Hz. The power supply provides a constant programmed parameter of power regardless of fluctuations in the network parameters.

This is used to power the lighting on test with a constant current, it is designed for digital power supply with up to 400Watt. This DC power adapter or a computer can be programmed for voltage or current with an accuracy of 0.01.

To get the information from the lamps we have built and tested onto a computer screen for the creation of lighting designs we have to produce what are called IES files. Industrial luminaires or LED lighting, such as commercial fluorescent or LED illuminators are represented in electronic form. This means that to use a particular setting or led light bulb in the lighting design, you need to convert it to digital form.

Using a device called a goniometer it measures distribution of light emitted from the LED luminaires and saves these photometric files in ies or ltd. The process of scanning the light distribution depends on the model of the light source and can be from several minutes to several hours.

Written in the form of digital images of the spatial distribution of light, itcan be used in projects such as lighting design DIALux programs. While the machine is scanning it is in a blacked out room where there is no reflection of light off the walls. The walls are made of light-absorbing material and so provide accurate measurements without the interference of the beam emitted from the luminaire.
